The book that I had just finished reading this week is City of Fallen angels by Cassandra Clare. This is the forth book in Clare's Mortal Instruments series and continues to deliver her powerful world of fantasy. With the threat of Valentine and his demon army come to pass, Main characters Clary Morgensten, Jace Herondale and Simon Lewis can finally lead there own lives as normally as possible,or so they thought. Mysterious murders are being to rise up in new york similar to a previous event, and an old enemy returning and lurking in the shadows and among friends, their doesn't seem to be any peace for Clary and her friends.
One main character that had really caught my attention was Jace Herondale (Lightwood, Morgensten, it's very confusing to know what to call him). He is the character type that you would easily classify as a hero in the story. But it seems that he is under the influence of a demons power so he isn't really himself. To me I don't know how much of what he says is from his own mind and how much was the demon. He was always the one character with a deep self conflict because he blamed himself for everything his father did and has lost himself as a person. But it looks like a part of him wants to truly listen to the demon and follow in his fathers footsteps. Then in the end of the book he makes a decision that may have destroyed everything he fought for.
Another Character that i want to focus on is Simon Lewis. He has become the first vampire to be able to wake in the sunlight in 100 years, making him a target and a wanted ally. But like in other books, Simon is one of those vampire with an inner conflict that goes against his nature as a predetor. He remains loyal to his friends but is seen as a powerful ally and a weapon. Then Simon has his love life to deal with when both girls that he was dating finds out about each other and go after Simon, he really has his hands full. I think Simon is a person who just wants to figure out his life on his own without anybody else to telling him what to do, but thats all everybody is saying. He remains to have a stable loyalty to his friends but thaat all could change very soon.
All in all, the book was an amazing read and I would reccomend it to anybody who injoys a good twisted fantasy world. The story is well paced and the plot is deeply thought out, making for an exciting read, not to metion the characters in the book. So this week my reading life was entertaining and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

Social issues assignment #1:Song Response
Looking for Angels by: Skillet
"Looking For Angels"
I had listened to this song a few days ago and it mad sense to use it for this assignment. The band Skillet made this song to show the issues of the world that we haven't really taken into consideration. It shows more than just one issue, making us think about not how fortunate we are, but also how our actions affect others. To me i can sumeerize it into a single message "We need to stop complaining about our petty issues,, and start looking out for the things that are truly important to our world."
People everyday are starving, struggling, and dying out there, praying for things to get better. These people are truly "Looking for Angels", as the demons of our selfishness drag them down. It shows me that I need to stop worrying about the smaller things in life and stop complianing, because it could be much. We need to look at the bigger picture as these people are looking for angels to save them from this horrible reality.
"Looking For Angels"
Going through this life looking for Angels
People passing by, looking for Angels.
Walk this world alone try to stay on my feet
Sometimes crawl, fall, but I stand up cause I'm afraid to sleep
And open my eyes to a new day, with all new problems and all new pain
All the faces are filled with so much anger
Losing our dignity and hope from fear of danger
After all the wars, after settling the scores, at the break of dawn we will be deaf to the answers
There's so much bigotry, misunderstanding and fear
With eyes squinted and fists clinched we reach out for what is dear
We want it we want
We want a reason to live
We're on a pilgrimage
A crusade for hope
Cause in our hearts and minds and souls we know
We need it we need
We need more than this
[Chorus:]
Going through this life looking for angels
People passing by looking for angels
Walking down the streets looking for angels
Everyone I meet looking for angels
So many nations with so many hungry people
So many homeless scrounging around for dirty needles
On the rise, teen suicide, when we will realize
we've been desensitized by the lies of the world
We're oppressed and impressed by the greedy
Whose hands squeeze the life out of the needy
When will we learn that wars, threats, and regrets are the cause and effect of living in fear
Who can help protect the innocence of our children
Stolen on the internet with images they can't forget
We want it we want
We want a reason to live
We represent a generation that wants to turn back a nation
To let love be our light and salvation
We need it we need
We need more than this
[Chorus]
I became a savior to some kids I'll never meet
Sent a check in the mail to buy them something to eat
What will you do to make a difference, to make a change?
What will you do to help someone along the way?
Just a touch, a smile as you turn the other cheek
Pray for your enemies, humble yourself, love's staring back at me
In the midst of the most painful faces
Angels show up in the strangest of places
[Chorus]
[4x]
Walking down the streets looking for angels
Everyone I meet looking for angels
People passing by, looking for Angels.

Reading response/Review: The son of neptune
I hvave just finished reading the book: The Son of Neptune, by Rick Riordan
My first thought of the book was that thiss book woould blow me away, and I wasn't disappointed in the least. This series is a prequal to Riordan's first series which had involved the Greek gods and their mythology, where as this new series adds in the romans. The book is about a prophecy that will force both the greeks and romans work towards a commen enemy in the book:Gaea, the goddess of the earth. This new installment in the series focus'sn three main characters: Frank, son of Ares(Mars), Hazel, daughter of Hades(Pluto), and Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon(Neptune). Percy is the hero of the first series that we all know and love, but it appears he doesn't quite know who he is.
Percy has lost his memory, due to the goddess Hera(Juno) so that he will find the roman version of camp half-blood, Camp Jupiter. Their he befriends two powerful demigods(Half human, half god)Frank and Hazel. Their he is chosen to free the god of death,Thanatos. He slowly regains his memory throughout the quesst but finally remembers who he is at the end and learns that his friends from camp half blood are coming to camp jupiter. Now we will half to see if the two camps can work together to defeating Gaea her army.
I thought overall the book was a very exciting and fun read. Filled with a unqiue plot and characters. It keeps the reader hooked til the end.It not only is a fantastic read but it is also has a good moral lesson behind each one or a intergrated issue of the main characters live tying them to the quest and each other.
